When I first spoke to Michelle about her family portraits, she explained to me her vision of elegance. She’s a kindred spirit who loves adventures and I knew just the place. There is a marble palace called Swannanoa nestled in the mountains in Afton, VA. I had never been, but always wanted to go, and after looking at pictures we decided it would be the perfect place.

Michelle, along with her husband Kevin and her three boys Jacob, Lincoln and Jasper, came dressed to the nines and ready to make some magic. I loved having a chance to make a once in a lifetime vision come to life and I couldn’t have had a more perfect backdrop or more perfect family to make it happen.

Anyone with a family of boys knows that life is an equal mix of love and chaos, but Michelle, even given her small frame, has a bold confidence and captivating presence that is perfect for taking care of her family. She’s the type of lady who doesn’t dream big, but DOES big. If you want to get something done, she’s the one to depend on and her boys definitely know they can count on her. Kevin is her right hand man, and has a quiet confidence that is the perfect counter Michelle’s boldness. Together, they make the perfect team to help the boys reach their goals.

And their boys are great, too! I have a soft spot in my heart for Jasper because my son is close to his age. Jasper looked so sharp and has a smile that can just absolutely melt even the toughest person. He was so silly and I loved the playful energy he brought to our session. Lincoln was so sweet, too, and was just a natural in front of the camera. He always had a smile on and was ready to whatever I asked the whole time. Jacob is older and a little more serious than his younger brothers, but was such a good sport. It’s hard for teenagers at photo sessions because most of the time it’s the last place they want to be. But Jake managed to laugh along with his brothers and I think that *maybe* he even had a little fun!

After such a great session it’s always hard to pick favorites but I did my best! Check them out!
